Intellectual Materialism

This book is about Buddhism philosophy by Tetsuya Miyazaki.
Buddhism is suitable to me among all philosophy.
I like the idea of Madhyamaka.
You will understand the Buddhism spread in Japan is how different from the original buddism and what religions are. It tells you about Schopenhauer as well, which is very interesting.

When Japanese guys are in their 30's. It's sometimes a pain in the ass to have serious relationships.

Here are 2 options for the guys.

Option 1
You search and meet a new girl.
You go on dates a few times to get her.
It costs USD 200-300.
After a few time love making, she turns clingy to you.
It bothers to text/talking to her everyday.
You stop talking to her.
You search and meet a new girl...(Repeat)

Option 2
It's the same cost as Option 1.
You go to a whore house.
You release your libido and it's simple.

My mentors and I were having the guy talk and one of them recommended a book, Platform by Michel Houellebecq. He is cynical, difficult, stubborn  and pretends to be cool, but he has a clear views of everything.

A business trip to Japan and so on...I drank with mentors. It's been the first time in 2 years to get laid with a Japanese chick. I went to a big rave party. I enjoyed Japan.
You have significant milestones in your 30's. You find differences in your friends to talk with and hang out with in a good and bad way. I inputted different mindsets and life styles into myself, and I will need to swallow and digest in order to output them. It's always fun spending time with the people having a lot of experiences.
I'm thunkful for having some mentors who I can talk with when I'm at milestones in my life. Although it's been a long time to catch up with them, I can always confirm that I'm walking in the same tough track that the mentors have already been through, which motivates me and makes me confident that I wan't wrong. We had many different conversations and we found out an interesting common thought in relationships

Pen is Mightier Than Sword

A famous Japanese writer, Yukio Mishima already predicted how Japan would be 40 years ago.

“Japan will disappear; it will become inorganic, empty, neutral-tinted; it will be wealthy and astute; it will remain only as a giant economic power in a corner of the Far East”

The current Japanese situation is worse than he expected since Japan is no longer the 2nd strongest economic contry in the world. 40 years ago in Japan, the young debated ideologies, but the both of them had the same concern which was Japan. They just wanted to make Japan better.

Different opinions or ideas are a proof of our freedam of speech.

No Longer Human

Your dick is your brain at your late 10's to 20's. Your dick makes decisions. When I was on the stage, this girl lectured me.

I met her at a club and she looked flashy but once I talked to her, I immediately realized she is smart. She went to a prestigious university and worked at a piano bar at night.
I hid my libido and asked her to come over to my place to have my cooking and weed. A few days later, she came over and we started to smoke up. Firstly we taste my cooking and I was going to taste her as well. While cooking, I was asked a question.

"Have you ever read No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai?"

"Nope. How come?"

"It starts with the sentence saying My life is full of shame. It's just as you. lol"

It was like she sees through EVERYTHING I was thinking about. I was not enough strong to take all discouraging words back then. I couldn't make any moves. I just cooked her dinner.I was horny, so I tried to fulfill myself by jerking off. I realized I was a real loser and it was just an immoral conduct.

Her metaphor was I'm alike the guy in the novel who is from a wealthy family, sleeps around, lazy and ends up killing himself. How would I response now?

I would say "Thanks for the compliment!!" with a lovely smile. lol

Wandering

Wandering, backpacking and fucked up with alcohol...
I cant do any of these because I'm physically and mentally weak. For wandering and bagpacking needs filthy places to stay without showers. I'm not up for it. Being fucked up with alcohol needs strong liver and stomach. I always get heart burn or stomach pain when I drink too much. My body can't take it.

Yutaka Kamoshida, the writer of "Asia pa-den" is mentally and physically storng, but also he is very sensitive. His sentences are unique by using his keep foresight and he ends stories with nostalgia. I respect him since he can do what I cannot do.

Ryu Murakami

There is one of men I admire is Ryu Murakami. He knows about food, drinks, economics, music, sports, travels, and so on. He is super cool.

"5 fungo no sekai" tells me to be worried about the country.
"First night, Second night and Last night" reminds me of the first love.
"POST popart no aru heya" teachs me art.
"Murakami Ryu no ryouri shousetsushu" makes me curious about food.
"Subete no otoko ha shoumouhin de aru" notifies me the respect to women.

I believe the men who don't respect women are assholes!!

If you think Murakami, it gotta be manly Ryu Murakami, not sissy Haruki Murakami!!

Sound of Silence

Ferdinand de Saussure who wrote Course in General Linguistics said "Unless there is a concept, there is no word for it". In other words, If there is no snow in a country, there is no word for snow in the country.

BUT, a Japanese invented a word to describe a sound of silence.

"Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin"

This is the word describing silence made by Soseki Natsume.
I'm wondering whether other language have a smilar expression.

Beatnik

http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B8%E3%82%A7%E3%83%8D%E3%83%AC%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%B3

I usually read only Japanese books, but there is exceptions. One them is Jack Kerouac. He was recommended by my senior at a college.

About him, he is an author representing "Beat generation". After WW2, the people of Beat generation insist " The happiness you believe is fake such as a house with a back yard, a car, a TV and shopping on weekends..." which was a typical happiness for Americans and it was the American dream.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_Generation

The city I live, NYC is related to him. One day, I went to the exbition of "On The Road" at New York City Library with my 36 year old bohemian friend, and she pointed at a sentence which was saying... "I absolutely refuse to be an adult" She laughed and said "It's just like you"

You now think that Jack Kerouac is like Peter Pan. I slacked off in NY and I want to defend yourself?!? The answer is yes and no. lol Because Beatnik writers influenced the later culture a lot!! In 50's, Jackson Pollack
invented Action painting to describe Abstract expressionism. Charlie Parker created a bas of modern Jazz. Especially Rock was inspired by Beatnik and Bob Dylan is one of the Beatnik Rock artists. 50's is a transit of a period and many creaters who are outside the box appeared. This cultual wave also expanded in 60's. It caused Hippie and Pop art. It's thought that anti-authority and out-law underground culture which is against the main
stream and the typical life style started from Beat generation.

I will introduce some beatnik writers.

William Burroughs "Naked Lunch"
He shot his wife while he was playing "William Tell" with her. He is in "Drug Store Cowboy" by Gus Van Sant. It's one of the best drug movies.

Allen Ginsberg "Howl"
He insisted ligalization of marijuana and anti war. He loved Buddhism.

The stuff in common by them is alcohol, drugs, travels and curiosity of sex(the above 2 guys were bi-sexual and the rest was gay). They first brought the idea of Buddhism into the US and seeked the meaning of life. They didn't care about
stereotypes and prejudice. They didn't deny black sheep. I can't follow the way they lived, but I want to have the sense and ideas like they had. The things you like may be influenced by "Beatnik"!!
